Remote Sensing of Atmospheric Aerosols and Air Quality

This intensive training workshop will provide participants with advanced knowledge in satellite and surface remote sensing techniques for atmospheric aerosols, with particular emphasis on applications for air quality monitoring and forecasting systems. The program encompasses a wide range of satellite platforms including MODIS, VIIRS, PACE, and geostationary satellites, complemented by comprehensive ground-based data from the AERONET network.
Participants will benefit from a balanced approach combining theoretical lectures with practical hands-on data visualization and analysis exercises. The workshop structure enables attendees to develop essential skills in downloading, accessing, and visualizing critical datasets through both online interfaces and offline analytical tools, with special focus on Python Jupyter notebook implementation.
Additionally, the program covers fundamental aspects of AERONET instrumentation technology, measurement methodologies, and data interpretation techniques. This technical foundation will empower participants to effectively integrate satellite and ground-based observations, enhancing their capacity to conduct sophisticated aerosol research and monitoring applications across various environmental and atmospheric science domains.
